The Very Group has selected UiPath to overhaul its pricing strategy using agentic AI, marking a three-year partnership aimed at sharpening retail decision-making. This collaboration reflects a broader industry trend where retailers increasingly turn to advanced automation to handle complex market trends and evolving consumer expectations.
AI-powered pricing solution
The initiative will integrate UiPath’s agentic AI into The Very Group’s existing data-led pricing framework, covering more than 200,000 products across its retail brands. The system is designed to automate manual processes, allowing teams to focus on higher-value activities. Key features include campaign simulation and optimisation, and sophisticated scenario planning to test pricing strategies under different market conditions.
The goal is to balance profitability with customer value. The agentic AI will provide real-time margin visibility and support more robust decision-making across the organisation, helping The Very Group optimise gross margin and stock management while improving pricing agility in a competitive retail environment.
Sam Wright, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at The Very Group, said pricing remains one of retail’s most critical levers. “We have a range of over 200,000 products and pricing is one of the most powerful levers in retail. The combination of our expertise and their data is helping Very stay ahead of shifting consumer demand and trends to make more informed decisions on pricing and merchandising.”

Explainability and operational alignment
UiPath’s solution emphasizes AI explainability, allowing The Very Group to trace how pricing decisions are made. This transparency helps teams understand and refine the AI’s outputs, supporting better alignment across merchandising, finance, and marketing teams.
Catherine Frame, Director of Retail Solutions at UiPath, called the partnership a demonstration of how agentic AI can reshape retail pricing. “By combining automation with intelligent, explainable decision-making, retailers can better access a strategic, data-led approach that drives both profitability and customer value.”
The project is part of The Very Group’s broader push to scale its AI capabilities, with early expectations including improved stock management and pricing agility. The partnership follows a competitive pitch process, with UiPath chosen as the technology partner to modernise pricing operations.
The broader implications of this partnership extend beyond The Very Group, signaling a potential industry-wide shift toward more autonomous and transparent pricing strategies.
