Sephora has opened its first store in Glasgow at Silverburn, marking the fourth and final shop launch of the summer. The opening comes just one month after the beauty retailer made its Scottish debut at Edinburgh’s St James Quarter, bringing the total number of new locations to four within a brief timeframe.
A Scottish expansion continues
General manager of Silverburn, Diarmuid Donohoe, described the arrival of the retailer as “one of the biggest retail stories of the summer.” He noted that the decision to locate the Glasgow store at Silverburn reflects the centre’s position as a leading retail destination and its appeal to the most sought-after international brands. Sephora UK’s Boyd echoed this sentiment regarding the momentum of the expansion, stating that the opening of the Glasgow Silverburn store is a proud milestone for the company.
“Following the incredible response to our Edinburgh opening,” Boyd explained, “we knew beauty lovers in the west of Scotland were ready for Sephora too, and we’re so excited to finally open our doors.” The retailer views the Scottish market as a significant opportunity, recognizing the region’s energy and style as a key factor in its strategy to establish a physical presence there.
New technology and local brands
The Silverburn location offers customers access to a diverse range of products, featuring Only at Sephora brands alongside social media favorites. The shelves are stocked with exclusive labels such as Rhode, Haus Labs, Makeup by Mario, Merit Beauty, Half Magic, Yepoda and Tower 28, as well as popular names like Tatcha, Tarte, Summer Fridays and Kosas. Scottish beauty brands Vieve and Byoma are also available for purchase, ensuring a mix of global and local appeal.

Beyond the shelves, customers can take advantage of Sephora UK’s new Beauty Scan technology. This system utilizes an advanced lens operated by a beauty advisor to assess specific factors such as skin oil and hydration levels. The goal is to support more precise foundation shade matching, offering a scientific approach to finding the perfect color match.
Boyd elaborated on the philosophy behind these new stores, emphasizing that a location is about more than just a place to shop. “We want to create a beauty destination where people can discover something new, experiment, learn and be inspired,” he said. “Glasgow has such an incredible energy and sense of style, and we can’t wait to become part of the city’s beauty community.”
Summer and future plans
Celebrations will run throughout the opening weekend, featuring live music, beauty experiences, exclusive rewards and giveaways. This summer, Sephora also opened boutique stores in London’s Carnaby Street and Old Spitalfields Market. The retailer developed the new boutique format specifically to enable the launch of shops in convenient high street locations, allowing for broader accessibility.
Despite the end of summer, the expansion continues. Sephora is planning further store openings before the end of the year as it works towards a nationwide portfolio of 20 sites. The Glasgow location adds to a growing network of stores across the UK, signaling a continued commitment to physical retail presence in the region.
