Lindt launches Dubai-style chocolate ice cream

Swiss chocolate manufacturer Lindt has turned its Dubai Style chocolate bar into an ice cream sundae, now available across its stores. The move extends the brand’s push into trend-driven desserts as summer temperatures climb.

The new sundae layers Crema Gelata ice cream with Kadayif and pistachio sauce, then tops it with the company’s Dubai-Style Chocolate praline. Lindt is also introducing a Mango Milkshake that blends white chocolate with mango syrup. These launches represent the company’s latest effort to create products that respond to evolving consumer preferences, following a pattern of innovation based on what is currently popular in the dessert market.

What’s inside the new Crema Gelata lineup

Both items join the existing Crema Gelata range, which comes in three variants: milk chocolate, white chocolate, or a mix of the two. The stores are also stocking a selection of premium beverages — a Strawberry Milkshake, a Pistachio Milkshake, and an Affogato. These drinks expand the menu beyond the newly introduced sundae and shake, giving customers additional cold options during the warmer months. The Crema Gelata range itself was already established in Lindt stores prior to these additions, serving as the base for the company’s freshly made ice cream offerings.

The confectioner has been leaning into limited-edition and culturally inspired flavors recently. The Dubai-style bar, originally a chocolate product, has clearly performed well enough to justify a frozen version. By translating a successful chocolate format into a completely different texture and temperature experience, Lindt is attempting to capitalize on the same flavor profile that resonated with consumers in its original solid form. The use of Kadayif, a shredded pastry common in Middle Eastern desserts, and pistachio sauce further shows the culturally inspired direction the brand is taking with this particular creation.

Whether this kind of product churn can sustain long-term interest is an open question. Trend-driven launches often generate short buzz but need to be backed by consistent quality to keep customers coming back. Lindt’s reputation for premium chocolate may help, but the ice cream aisle is crowded with novelty offerings that fade fast. The company’s approach of releasing these items exclusively through its own stores rather than through third-party retailers means the brand retains full control over preparation and presentation, but it also limits the number of potential customers who can easily access them.

Free ice cream for National Ice Cream Day

To mark National Ice Cream Day this weekend, Lindt is giving away a limited number of Crema Gelata cups at selected stores nationwide on July 18 and 19. The offer runs on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last. This promotional event is designed to draw foot traffic into Lindt retail locations during a period when ice cream consumption typically peaks, and it gives customers a chance to sample the existing Crema Gelata lineup without committing to a purchase.

Miquetta de Castro, master chocolatier at Lindt & Sprüngli UK, said: “With temperatures soaring this summer, we’re excited for chocolate fans to explore our freshly made ice creams and milkshakes only in Lindt stores.”

“These indulgent creations are crafted with Lindt’s signature Swiss chocolate, from our newest Dubai-style sundae and refreshing Mango Shake to our classic Crema Gelata delights,” de Castro added. Her comments highlight that all of the ice cream and milkshake items, whether newly introduced or already part of the menu, share the common ingredient of Lindt’s own chocolate, tying the frozen desserts back to the company’s core product line.

The chocolate maker operates a relatively small number of its own retail locations, so the new items aren’t available in supermarkets. That keeps the rollout controlled but also limits reach. For now, anyone wanting to try the Dubai-style sundae will need to find a Lindt store — and maybe get there early this weekend for a free sample. The controlled distribution model means that unlike mass-market ice cream brands found in grocery freezers, these desserts are prepared fresh on-site at each location, which aligns with the brand’s positioning around craftsmanship and quality. The free giveaway on July 18 and 19 provides a specific window for curious customers to experience the range without cost, though the limited quantities and selective store participation mean availability will vary by location.
