AliExpress has added Yadea electric motorbikes to its UK marketplace, expanding its local-delivery service to include electric mopeds and motorcycles. The move comes as demand for powered two-wheelers in the UK rises, with registrations climbing 17% year-over-year in August. The platform now offers three models: the OWIN, GFX, and Keeness, priced from £2,195.86 to £6,548.28.
The addition reflects growing interest in electric alternatives to petrol-powered transport. UK registrations for electric bikes rose 7.5% in August, though electric motorcycles and mopeds remain a niche segment. AliExpress cited hundreds of thousands of searches for moped-related products as justification for stocking full vehicles.
Pricing highlights the range’s dual purpose: the OWIN and GFX target urban commuters, while the Keeness, nearly three times the cost of the entry model, aims to match the performance of a conventional 125cc motorcycle. The platform’s local-delivery service promises four-day shipping for eligible orders, though road-legal vehicles still require type approval, registration, and insurance before use.
Licensing rules vary by vehicle classification, and riders must meet legal obligations for safety equipment like helmets.
This launch represents a shift for the platform, moving beyond accessories into higher-value, regulated products. After-sales support, including battery coverage and maintenance, will face greater scrutiny than lower-cost items. A customer who previously bought an electric bicycle from AliExpress reported positive results, covering 400 kilometers in two weeks and using it for deliveries. The bike’s battery retained 3 out of 5 bars after a 26-mile round trip, and the purchase arrived within four days.
Finch Li, General Manager of AliExpress UK, noted the platform’s appeal for shoppers seeking premium items at competitive prices.
